This seems a very curious stipulation, I'm struggling to understand the logic of it. If it has been decided that vehicles over forty years old won't require testing, what difference does it make if the model is still in production?

In fact surely the opposite is true, a forty year old design still being made must surely have been very durable in the first place. I can't believe that a 1978 4/4 is more in need of testing than, say, a 1978 Lancia Beta!

Looks to me like something the MSCC should be pursuing.
