I'm probably not the only one but I'm confused by the whole silver on black/white on black number plates thing.
It used to be the case that pre 1973 cars could have either a modern number plate or a silver/white on black background.
However my understanding is that only pre 1975 cars can display them but only if they are in the historic vehicle class?
