Just looked at the government website on the law regarding number plates and I’ve picked out a few points that relate to conversations on this thread

1. Fine - nowhere can I find a reference to points off a licence
It only states a fine of up £1000 and MOT fail for displaying non conforming plates

2. Reading all the guff I am convinced that mine and PeterJ’s pressed metal plates are perfectly legal and confirm in every way just as the company claims

Because:

They have the correct lettering font
They are the right colour and made of a reflective material
The law does allow 3D lettering as long as it’s in the correct font and size
The makers postcode and BS ref is visible
