Interesting subject - When I bought my +4 in 2011, it had 53k miles on the clock, it now has 175k.
The gearbox (LT77) caused me a bit of grief, jamming itself in 4th, last year and it took me six (!) attempts to finally find out the promblem and fix it. As I am now retired, luckily I had the time to do it myself but the learning curve was a little steep..
Since then, Scruffymog's taken us all over the place including Cantabria and, this summer, down to Andalucia without any problems or, perhaps suprisingly, any signs of overheating in 35+° temparutures.
The engine, M16 Rover, is now showing small signs of hydraulic tappet wear when cold but, with a bit of luck and ferreting about on Internet, it should be easy enough to fix it.
I think to fully appreciate a Morgan, or any other "traditional" motor car, it helps to have a certain mechanical sympathy and not be afraid of getting your hands dirty. And of course there is a wealth of information and advice on TM and GOMOG, not fogetting other sites concerning the different drive-train components.
Regular servicing and maintenance is essentiel but it should be remembered that it is just a motor car and as such, just a mechanical machine that needs looking after.
Enjoy your Morgan for what, at least for me, it is - a fabulous way of seeing this world.
Cheers
Chris
