If you use silicone then get the “neutral” version. Beware the one with acetic (vinegary smell) content as that could affect the paint.
I fitted a tenax to my car with the 2 screw version, made a thin rubber gasket from some rubber strip and put candle wax into the pre drilled holes. The tenax replaced a press stud that never stayed in place. The hood is a very tight fit and the fixing was slightly out of best location putting too much strain on the press stud.
