Dean it must be a fever in the NE . As a child going home from school I tried to do a 100mph down a long steep hill but did not think about my towel bag on my handle bars. School could not afford soap and towels in the 1950s. It went in the spokes and I was thrown over the top onto the road taken to hospital for a good few weeks . No crash helmets in those days . Started to save for a motor bike and a older work mate had a crash in Church st Hartlepool . I went to see him not a pretty sight . Dad thought I would kill myself with speed . So made a deal he would go half's with my 1st car . By hell was I pleased . I was crap on 2 wheels . A short while after I met June she bought a small Honda m/bike . I was at my grans and asked for a try , shot along her empty street . Thought "OH HELL" I had no idea what was what and shot round a corner missing a wall by the skin of my teeth . NEVER BEEN ON A BIKE SINCE. 3 push bikes out in the garage hardly sat on I think the insurance companies have a ban on me and anything with 2 wheels
ps . If I take one of those bikes to Durham I will keep a look out for you on the riverside pathway.
