Looks good, Richard, perhaps you can put an extension at the current input which leads to the lateral hood like in John‘s Series1. Such an extension you could shape yourself to have a nicely huger area at the new input point. This way you make a benefit out of the need to have to overcome the distance. The shape of the output of some type of exponential bass bins comes to my mind as an orientation, but now with the function of an input and of course in a much smaller scale.
I think an almost conical shape like in this example below should work if you only consider the last and biggest section of the horn below.
