Could quality have improved in recent years? When my 3W arrives, I'll be 100 miles from the closest dealer, and would be extremely disappointed by shoddy/sloppy build quality. What do you mean by "truly dreadful hoses?" What other quality flaws should one routinely expect to encounter? Do others concur with your assessments? Please be candid, since this represents a significant purchase for me – thank you!

Hi Steven all the following relate to 4 wheelers.

Whilst it is an issue, do not worry too much it, handbuilt cars are inherently less well built then mass produced cars and that has to be accepted when getting one. I have had 5 handbuilt cars and reckon it takes 2 years to fully debug them (I am in Jersey so being nearer the dealers would halve this time I suspect).

My '02 +8 was the worst built of the 5 cars mentioned (Excellent quality hoses tho :-) and whilst my experiences may have been atypical they were certainly not unique. I believe that the quality of the components, (in most cases) is better now, conversely there is a lot of pressure to keep the cars build times as keen as possible. It looks to me that the build of the M3W is going to be more component based than the trads - A sensible direction which should improve quality, (arguably) at the expense of the true concept of hand built cars.

But the trick to handling this issue is:

1) Chose a dealer who you can establish a rapport with and has good reputation.
2) Never, ever accept "they all do that sir" (Once one has established a level of reasonableness, a brand new 4 wheeler trad, should not leak, squeak, rattle, chaff paint etc. Conversely do not expect to hear a standard radio above 50mph, don't expect braking to match modern stiff chassised, massive tyred, ABS equipped cars).

Another bonus point is that the Aftermarket for these cars is pretty amazing, If there is something that you just cannot get to like on the cars, some skilled individual will have come up with a solution. (I'm sure that the M3W aftermarket will evolve at a rate of knots)

Finally from my own experience once a Mog is fixed it tends to stay fixed. This is the big difference from the otherwise better built TVR's I have had.
