Hi Philip,
I had one fitted on my Series I and it really made a difference as it was much keener to rev. Since then I've just got the Works to alter the internals of the standard air filter, as mentioned by Simon, and that seems to have the same effect, making the breathing of the engine much better particularly at high revs.
