It's true that Perez brings sponsorship - but he's a long long way from being just another pay driver; he competes for his seat on speed & results, and outperforms the car. 125 points this year vs pay driver Stroll's 75 tells you all you need to know.
The cash Perez brings is a bonus. Perez has developed a remarkable ability to make tyres last, which gives him strategy options that teammates don't have. He also stepped in to make sure Force India didn't implode, for which I'm sure many colleagues will thank him.

Sergio would likely make the ideal teammate for Max - ultimately not as quick (by hundredths, rather than Albon's tenths) but able to qualify at the front, pressure rivals strategies, and bring the car home. Red Bull won't win a championship with Albon (yet; Albon is not the finished article). They might compete for a championship with Max & Sergio driving.

Couldn't agree more !!!

He also has a very well tuned race craft and is much more able to drive tactically. Max doesn't need a team mate to push him, he's already super motivated but Sergio is fast and will give Red Bull far more strategic options to try to mess Mercedes race strategy up a bit.

I do hope the rumours are true.
