Indeed, and if one doesn't like the idea of the government directing where one's money is spent one is always free to make tax-deductible charitable donations oneself.

I'm quite keen on supporting local charitable causes, but I'm not quite in the same league as MacKenzie Scott, who has so far given away $6Bn (10% of the £60Bn she got from Bezos) this year. Wowser.

Absolutely, we Gift Aid our offerings which gives them that bit extra, if everyone does a bit we'll get there we are not all millionares and nor do we need to be, it's a humanity thing not a monetary thing.
