Not sure I'd classify my Plus 4's dash layout as particularly ergonomic in it's design but I agree about touch screens. When I was in the Fire Service I attended countless RTCs where the driver had been on their mobile device just before the collision. I'm not sure there's much difference between a mobile device and a touchscreen on a dash in terms of the attention they require to operate them. Probably a lot cheaper to manufacture than fitting knobs and dials though.
