Thank you again - result "TBM" and "Image" - your suggestions really helped.
The power to the points seemed to be intermittent - sometimes I got a spark at the points and sometimes I didn't which suggests a short or loose wire.
Anyhow, not sure what I did - adjusted the points, I replaced the distributor cap, moved some wires and we're getting spark (most of the time) . Tomorrow will try and start the old thing...
and change the condenser/capacitor across the points. These do fail with age and may contribute to the intermittency.
