Basically the higher purchase price of the EV meant the breakeven cost versus petrol was several years.
I would definitely agree that there is a market for a basic no frills EV, Dacia has the Spring EV at around £10.5k available in the EU, and I believe they are considering doing a RHD version for the UK.
But I'm not making the change for economic reasons, so the payback argument is irrelevant for me.
