Cheers Andrew ..... will try it with no cable slack .... doesn't feel like it's far away so that may be enough ... though I must admit to always being wary of loading the throwout bearing and it wearing out because it's constantly turning ... however, as a test to see just how near the clutch is to freeing completely it should be fine .... if it's close I can juggle with the various adjustmemts to find it.
Did you find the throwout bearing lasted ok on your 4/4?
