I think I would go for the non heated ordinary laminated screen.
Have you thought to try one of the plant maintenance firms. Nearly all tractors, diggers etc have flat glass. I have seen it being cut, they use burning meths to melt the pastic laminate instead of trying to cut it.
Thanks ivanford for that, hadn't crossed my mind to try them and an interesting method of cutting/sealing the laminate membrane.
We have plenty of agriculture around here, not much plant and building just now ! I shall make a few enquiries around about, maybe boats too use similar?

If I go that route it will prove/disprove my heated screen theory i.e. being inherently weaker.
