Off the ground for me.

I would just echo that it has to be really to allow easy turning of wheels lock to lock to gain access to top nipples.

I now follow Cain's suggestion of an old sock to remove old excess grease from lower part of stub axle followed by a wipe of discs with brake cleaner.
