The requirement for fogs to work only on main/dip was introduced to stop people leaving them on and dazzling following drivers, mainly in the wet.
Kit cars would not pass the SVA/IVA certification if they didn’t self cancel on switching off main/dip.
As for bullet connectors...
I replaced mine on the front under wing areas as they are massively exposed and prone to seizing up/ deteriorating. I had a front side light failure due to a badly affected bullet connection. Replaced with spade connectors and shrink fit tubing for sealing off.
