I am aware of a friend who suffered a last minute "thank you for your continued custom we have rolled over for another twelve months and you premium has gone up 9%" let it roll over then cancelled two days later having sorted his replacement.

Or if you ask to cancel they have to make a repayment to you.

It might be worth asking.

I don't think insurance renewals fall under the statutory 'cooling off period' which is why companies abuse the timely reminder
