I mentioned this factor in my earlier post because I remembered that we had loads of trouble with cars shipped from Japan in the 70's which had been badly strapped down during shipment: uneven spring ride heights and "squared" tyres in particular. It happened with leaf springs as I recall - I don't believe we had trouble with coils. Of course, those early shippers were soon "brought to book", and then with the explosion of Japanese car exports the car companies used their own ships, so the problem never recurred.

Come to think of it - there were problems later with Alfas from Italy (surprise!) with coil springs: these were sorted by using blocks - sometimes metal, sometimes rubber - which locked the coils solid, and had to be removed by the dealers upon arrival.

I wonder whether the shippers going to Oz are as rigorous as they should be with the tiny number of Morgans being exported?
