EURO 7 is not yet agreed by the European Parliament and in the aftermath of the energy crisis it may well be kicked down the road. EURO 6 is the default standard and for ICE Cars EURO 7 emissions are unchanged. What EURO 7 does is to put new limits on brake dust and tyre dust. This will encourage PHEVs with regenerative braking, which is no bad thing.
If low emission zones jump to EURO 7 all they will do, in my view, is punish those least able to afford it without achieving much!!
Which is why I said government after next. It'll be 2030 before we see the next big change as more and more people in urban areas give up private motoring. The biggest resistance to the idea is Boomers (and to a lesser extent, GenX ) and they are rapidly dying off. The majority voting blocks at the next election will be Millenials, followed by Genz's at the following elections, and they think very differently from our generation, especially in regard to environmental issues.
