Welcome Neil. I would however be
very wary of using that adapter fed from a USB socket. The USB source need to be 2 amp and even then the 12 volt output socket supplies less than one amp!
Better to fit a dedicated 12 volt connector (Hella/DIN type far superior) and wire into any solid brown (permanently live) cable you can find under dash or engine bay, adding a 15 amp fuse. Any auto electrician should be able to hook up such but ensure in any case battery is disconnected first.
