I added a power socket to my first Morgan, a 1993 4/4. Piggy backed the wires to another circuit and screwed the socket to the wooden frame in a suitable place.
VERY reluctant to drill a hole in the CX! Can’t see what’s behind the trim so not going to risk it.
Having the glovebox open to use the usb is not a major problem, just a bit annoying.
Maybe a short “hook” arrangement to hold it nearly closed to allow the cable out might work.
