All the work yesterday was a success. Did about 60 miles today - first half mile from cold had a few pops, but then she settled into a smooth tickover. Temp rarely got over 1/4 (fan set to kick in at 88 degrees). Clearing the two junk fans from the front of the rad, and fitting a 'puller' behind has really helped with the cooling - on the way home last week the fan was coming on very few miles, and the air temp was substantially warmer today - getting the ignition timing right will certainly have helped with that as well.
Did a few cosmetics too, like painting the grill centre black, and moving the plate back an inch or so.
Next step is to try and sort out the saggy seats!
