As I've got a few weeks off, it's been all hands to the pumps on the MG..
Been a little tricky with the rather inclement weather, but I've had a couple of dry days. First priority with any car is to sort out the brakes and handling, so have fitted new calipers, braided hose, drilled and slotted discs and EBC green pads. It is supposed to be a '25%' improvement, but anything will be better than the tired stuff that was on there.
Then a pair of uprated and lower front springs - the rubber bumper cars were raised due to US regulations so this will bring it down a couple of inches and firm up the cornering.
Cracked on with the back end today to fit a pair of lowering blocks, but discovered that one of the rear brake cylinders was leaking so ordered a complete overhaul set - silly prices again -new drums, shoes, pistons, adjusters and all the associated springs for under £120 inc delivery
Noticed the rear springs were looking a bit knackered - one was starting to spread and one of the leaf clamps had split. Whipped them off and gave the credit card another mild bashing - new springs, bolts, U bolts, pads and rear shackles for £135 inc delivery. Couple of dry days next week so wait for the postie and start bolting it all back up.
Also got a couple of new seat bases to fit to stop the sagging.
Poor Mog is feeling a bit neglected, but the weather is looking better next week, and I did manage a breakfast at the MMC Experience Centre last Friday....
