Besides the modern electronic waste being harmful one of the worst offenders which never seems to get discussed is and always has been clothing and footwear both in production and disposal. As we have grown into a disposable society we have thrown our clothing away instead of darning, sowing on buttons or replacing zippers with over 70% going to landfill and not being recycled. The dying breed of cobblers has all but disappeared so footwear just gets thrown away instead of repaired, it's cheaper anyway to just buy new, the production of clothing and footwear is not only a sweat shop but a very messy and wasteful business.
