Fantastic responses guys and lots to think about .
John Harris - loved your comment re getting in the plus 8. A direct comment that I would expect from a northerner , albeit from up market Lytham St Annes to a ‘Sandgrownun’ from a few miles north of you ! I could have used BlackpoolBoy but I left for university and never went back to live . Driving down the prom, along seven miles of golden sands hood down, obviously are happy memories . Also I had a new full knee replacement last week, so it will be an another week or so before I try to get in the car....
I did think the Ash, Ali body would be OK but now worried about the chassis aspect mentioned above . . Thankfully it was the red plus 8 that did the seaside salty runs, the black one didn't.
Assume the Morgan Club is still going & this more modern form of communication immediacy supplements it. I will Google it.
More advice still welcomed. Best Michael
That made me smile, I'm a blow in, born and bred in the Black Country ( you can't get further from the sea in the UK) moved up here nearly 40 years ago, love the place. Don't mind being considered a northern, we consider anything south of Watford Gap as southerners. Mind you old habits die hard, I can still enjoy chewing on a bit of coal for breakfast.,
Interesting that you mention Blackpool and the Fylde the salty sea air is renown for convalescing but not so kind to metal etc. Unfortunately Blackpool has suffered much in the last 20 to 30 years with the falling holiday trade, not at its best at the moment but hopefully the regeneration plans will bring prosperity back into the area.
Whilst this is my 5th Morgan I'd been out of them for decades, so post Covid we said lets do it again and so we did. I then unfortunately hurt my back a couple years ago and had to let my Roadster 4 seater go, the higher seating position just put too much pressure on my back when dipping the clutch. Thought that might be it, but I could get in a 2 seater with its lower seating position.
I fractured my elbow in June a week later Sue fractured her ankle, a right pair with only 3 good arms and legs between us. As soon as we could both drive again we said b8gger this lot for a lark and got another Morgan, a 2 seater enjoying every minute, despite the occasional hiccup. Still not a pretty sight getting in and out but its improving with practice
I hope everything works out ok with the car and especially the knee.
