Yep .. even in London in the '50s there were two cars in our whole street ... the Chemist shop owner on the corner had a rather grand looking Riley RME and the was an old giant Buick down the other end (presumably got cheap from a returning US serviceman) that rarely moved due to it's thirst for petrol .... handful of motorcycle combinations and that was it .... other than us kids racketing about on our pushbikes.
