I always think its slightly sad to look at these things with purely monetary reasoning, they are a passion and a hobby and as such you have to accept the costs with it despite the cars percieved value - how much do people spend smoking or on alcohol if they added it up? Probably more than fabricating an Aero part over a year period.. To me if you enjoy it then go for it, they are special and worth keeping on the road.
Of course it not being on the road for long time periods is an issue, espicially if its your only fun/weekend car, so I can understand why you would potentially want to change - I hope the Plus 8 gives you reliable motoring.
