I think the reasons that most manufacturers cars are starting to morph into the same thing is a combination of a pressing need to get better and better aerodynamics, the need to have a long wheel base to house the battery, combined with all the manufacturers using the same design tools, topped off with the installation of the biggest screen they can fit on the inside.
I think it would be brilliant if solid state batteries can come through which will take away the pressing need for better and better aerodynamics, will not require a long wheelbase and hopefully then someone has the balls to launch something genuinely interesting looking with reduced driver distractions in the interior.
Probably just as well I don't run a car company though, as it wouldn't fit into the white goods world that car companies seem to be heading towards.
