Last night I was checking where petrol stations were on my route up to Scotland. Plenty showing both on motorway and other main roads. Some were listed as "automat" so assumed to be pay at pump/possibly unmanned. I'll change my stops to add one extra in so more fuel left and smaller top-ups. When up there we will use whatever is available, previous trips helping with locations. As usual the Motorways have inflated cost but will only be used if others don't fit. I seem to remember motorway service areas had a priority for supply when we had the fuel shortage a few years ago. Mrs sospan was a community nurse and had guaranteed fuel at a designated petrol station. I had to do top ups as and when needed with a significant commute. It worked ok in the end. I did have to use one motorway stop when commuting a couple of times. I had a diesel commute car back then so a round trip used about 2.5 gals. for 60 miles each way. Public transport? Not suitable due to train times/schedules/ getting to stations. West Wales to Cardiff.
