Yes the oil check is done by the car's system and displays on the screen. It must be done with the engine at running temperature so I do it when stopping after a distance travelled, usually when back at home or a base hotel on a trip.
For the coolant others have made a dipstick to check the level. The level indicator is a label stuck on the outside of the expansion tank. On my car my middle finger just touches the coolant so that is my dipstick. NO....I don't lick my finger!
One important thing......the B48 engine is a bugger for coolant replacement! Air locks are difficult to remove. I have heard that a vacuum unit is used to purge airlocks. Luckily the coolant has a decent life in use.
