I had a similar problem with a Jaguar, it turned out to be insufficient lenght in the rod from the brake pedal to the master cylinder. I took me ages to figure it out.
Some days the brakes would bind and sometimes they wouldn't.
Lengthened the rod a few threads and it never happeneed again.
