The part number for the LUCAS solenoid is 4.ST 1 / 76766. I took it from the box but it is also printed very small on the black bakelite part.

I asked you because 2 months ago I had, on my 2003 Plus 8, exactly the same problem. Checking everywhere and all seemed to be OK, finally I discovered that the trouble came from my battery isolator (which is only fitted for security purpose, because on cars with an electronic ECU it is strongly recommended not to cut the power).
I removed and dismantled the switch to try to understand what happened, but no track of malfunction.
I changed the switch and all came back to a normal state.
