I've never argued that the warranty wording & the magazine article are the same, merely that the two versions of the warranty are the same. I won't comment on the magazine article, 'cause I haven't read it, but the pieces of text quoted here would suggest that that Mr Whitworth is going beyond the warranty as stated in the handbook.
Again I say
"Given the choice, I'd put my money on the warranty statement in the handbook rather than a magazine article"
