Has anyone polished their factory painted bonnet cowl?

I am worried that Morgan may use a different quality of aluminum or hand pick zero defect parts to polish. I did noticed that Morgan Park Hamberg offers the service as an upgrade and this got me thinking it may be possible.

The thing I am curious about as well is if a clear coat is required post polish. Can anyone with a factory polished cowl comment on this one?

Any thoughts?

I polished mine , it is stainless steel so no coating required .
I stripped the paint with paint stripper , the finish wasn't too bad a few swirl marks and scratches but it polished up well .

It is most definitely stainless steel.

I found this out when fitting my diy cooling fan and cutting 40mm holes in the cowl. I too thought it was going to be aluminium but after quickly blunting a hole saw soon discovered it to be stainless.

It is a structural/strength issue together with the metal that goes across the car forward of the scuttle where the wipers are mounted is also steel. My +8 handbook / publicity brochure comes with a picture of the car body before painting and you can see quite clearly the different metals in construction.
