Hi Folks,
Does anyone know if there is fix to prevent water coming in over the windscreen between the hood material and the windcreen frame when using an old style mohair hood?
I think I saw a mention of a mod to help.
I may not ever drive in the rain but I would like to know if I ever need to!
I did try to use the search field against key words but didn't find the thread.
Cheers, Giles

Giles,

I would think that Dave W has this covered somewhere in his comprehensive "how to" posts.

Neoprene is the fix. If it's a nine stud traditional hood, (older versions had ten), use contact adhesive to glue a strip of 4 mm standard density neoprene just above the lift the dots. It may also need a thinner profile at the lower edge of this. Some neoprene is self adhesive and this will also do it.

. My series 1E Type d/h leaked from new - a thick smear of Vaseline cured. However not to say it will work on the Mog ,but worth a try eh!

According to the works of Brunel, I suspect that it (prene) - was leather. Shades of the atmospheric railway..................

So an equally alluring smell.

Thanks for the suggestion DaveW. You say 4mm, do you know the w/d/h numbers of the neoprene?
Would you have a photo?
Cheers, Giles

Giles.
I cut mine from a 4mm thick roll. The length is the width of the hood and the depth is around 2 cm but this is not critical. There's a neoprene guide in my 'how to' section in Classic Morgans. Alternatively I source self adhesive strip from C O H Baines.

Another way is to stick a length of "P" section draught excluder along the top of the screen surround - its self adhesive - the hood then compresses it when attached and stops moisture coming over the top

Cheers!
