As an alternative to fishing line, you might want to try nylon strimmer line, that's what I used and it worked very well.

Top suggestions

I was wondering what to use to lace up - I was going to use a couple of bootlaces

I will also pop into my upholstery foam suppliers on the way to work tomorrow and get another piece of foam to go inside as the seat could do with a bit of extra plumping

The chap who had the Mog before me was on the large side and the foams do compress and detierate

I have experienced the same sort of split on My 2000 seats. I bought a new diaphram from a Morgan Dealer. Apparently this is a common failure.

It's strange that the split occurred in a neat straight line where the mesh is reinforced with the rubber

Stewart, paracord would be good for lacing up the seat. Somewhere like B&Q sell various ropes/cord/chain/wire.

Being a canoeist and into bushcraft, I've got reels of the stuff but I'm going to use a thin sailing sheet - 4mm braided polyester so there is absolutely no elastication

Well finished the seat tonight

I forced another 25mm thick firm foam bolster into the seat and laced it up

Didn't go quite to plan as a couple of the eyelets ripped out of the rubber so it's not the neatest job but certainly done the trick

Finished off with some fly fishing line lashed under just in case

All nicely firm and plump

I also noted that Stewart has stated that he is into canoeing and bushcraft!

Maybe a change of site name to Hiawatha?
