A bit of advise appreciated. Changed my front pads to mintex. Braking much improved. BUT Just as you come to a stop they squeal like a good’un. I have spent 2 days trying to find a pad retaining pin & anti squeal kit for the standard caparo callipers. Morgan part no for pins & anti rattle clips are MBS0675/0676 & mintex pads MLB52. Whilst I can find some that look right when entering my car detail it flags up won’t fit. Uncle Melvyn also seems a bit vague on their website. Mintex now do anti squeal (FIT) shims but seems not for my pads. ( they don’t answer their e-mails) Basically I am after pins springs/clips & anti rattle shims. (late 2011 4/4) Thanks

Rimmer Bros in Lincoln do the H type clips that retain the pins on caparos. Part number QP2740. Dont know about the pins themselves but they have a website you can search. Have you applied a smear of coppaslip on back of pads and also on edges where they bear on caliper housing? Also, the pads are usually a tad too large for the disc and can rub on the outer edge of the disc. Just needs a little chamfer to be applied to the top edge of the pads with a file. ( all in Dave W’s book) Hope this helps.

And another thing...if you look up the Mintex online catalogue, you will not find a pad for newer Morgans with the Caparo caliper. Yes, MLB52 are the right size BUT are not listed as they have not got an R90 approval for fitment to a later Morgan. Although you say their email system doesn’t work well, I actually rang them last year and had a detailed & helpful discussion with one of their guys. Because they have not been tested in accordance with R90 on newer Morgans, he said it would be illegal for them to sell them as fit for purpose. Where did all this legislation come from...EEC of course!

Put a good coating of coppaslip on the BACK of the pad, it'll probably stop the squeal.

Sorry to spoil a good story, but the R-90 standard is not an EU standard but a UN standard applying to other countries as well as to the EU.

I fitted Mintex pads when I had my brakes upgraded. I couldn’t stop them squeaking. I think I didn’t brake hard or often enough and didn’t get them hot. I prefer to use engine/gearbox to slow the car. I had the pads skimmed a number of times but in the end I had to go back to OEM pads.

Is it dyslexia I wonder, as often when I see in print a couple of Es and a C, I simply see RED! 👹 Apart from that, the reason for lack of Mintex listing still stands. Apologies to our dear hard working friends in Brussels!

Thanks for the feedback. Mintex brake lubricant was used.(ceratec) I've ordered some mintex rubber anti squeal shims & some new spring clips. But can not source any pins. Mintex tell me that their FIT shims are not required for the MLB52 pads.

Try Melvyn Rutter for the pins.
