Hello. I have recently completely rebuilt the side screens from my 1971 4/4 4seater; this was fairly straightforward with some learning experiences along the way. However, all nearly done now, and my question to the forum members concerns what adhesive to use on the rubber seal mitred corners surrounding the aluminium frame.

I have tried Super Glue, but it fails as soon as it is flexed; probably because the rubber has had a mould release agent added. The original factory seals came pre-cut and glued; with the glue used having a transparent look to it. Clearly vulcanising would be the best, but difficult to achieve at home.

Any suggestions welcomed - thanks, Mike.

You could try a local shoe repair shop for advice. They use flexible glues for rubber and leather.

An ordinary solvent based contact adhesive such as Alpha Thixofix should do it.

(Alpha took over making Thixofix when Dunlop stopped making it.)

About 5 years ago I went to the factory that makes the sidescreens. at that time they were using Loctite 406 on the mitered corners
