I would really be 'narke'd if my thread drifted that far.

Perhaps I will keep the 4 seater. More room for the batteries and hydrogen tank.

Peter, I do not doubt for one moment that which you type in relation to high value automobiles which are in a market of their own and are bought as nothing other than investments.
Of course investment thinking has been used and perhaps abused by the motor trade for many a year to boost values of everything from the mundane upward and of course encouraging us to use man maths to agree on market evaluation. It would be interesting to know in reality how many average "classic" car owners have or are likely to ever find profitable returns on their "investment(s)" I suspect few if any of them might be Morgan owners...?
On the other hand air cooled Porsche owners seem to be on to a winner if they bought into that market before it grew to bubble proportions... Though I suspect much of that may be down to air cooled Porsches being less dependant on Baby Boomers, as it seems there are rather a lot of folk in their forties and fifties interested in that area of the Porsche market to maintain it`s buoyancy to date...?
Fish..? Yeah I have spent time fishing...(-:

Question is then how many on here are buying an electric car as their next car ? Big step but maybe we have little choice ? I am. Run the current Merc diesel into the ground ( 120k miles so far so some time yet) and then replace with a Merc electric with a hatchback for the hound. Family cars are a dead loss financially so I see no point in rapid turnover

Fish..? Yeah I have spent time fishing...(-: My Fezza definitely is not a "high value" motorcar but in the owners club there are many who have cars from 250k up to £?m. One of the guys with such a multi million car uses it regul;arly for meets and has had the car since the early 60s. Another member has 6 Fezza all of which seem to get used with the latest fastest most expensive in daily use. One local aristo use to use his old Bugatti to go down to the local fish n chip shop. The "expensive car" market seems to split into two. Yes there are lots of people with collections and using them as a sort of pension pot. But there are just as many who use them regularly. But I wouldnt see any Morgan or Ferraris like mine coming ito the investment scene. I expect to lose money on my car unless I keep it until the next boom cycle in 20? years time.

Howard, thanks for the heads up on folk you know of who seem to be automobile enthusiasts, I suspect they may be a different breed from those whose priorities are related to a hoped for return on their investment...? I recently photographed and posted here enjoying their Vintage Bentleys on the Hero rally ..? Another little tale... While driving my old Mog out of Chinchon one bright sunny morning we came across an open top Vintage RR on Brit reg plates coming towards us in the opposite direction much honking of horn and waving as we each went on our way...(-: I have to type that I see no harm in preserving a high value automobile in the hope of profit as opposed to the sheer joy of ownership.. whatever floats ones boat..?

To get back to the new PlusFour (or whatever they decide to call it), I wonder if anyone will race it. Naturally it would have to have a separate class but it would be interesting to see what would happen with one stripped for the track, race tuned, and with a bit of PJB's suspension wizardry.
Actually Morgan could sponsor a series with a number of equal cars on an "Arrive and Drive" basis where the driver pays a season fee and the "works" (a division of AR perhaps?) looks after preparation and logistics. (The driver gets the right to cover his car with whatever sponsor's advertising he likes. I am pretty sure I have heard of some company that was doing this successfully but I can't recall who or where.

Having read all the various thoughts and opinions on this thread I must confess it has helped to clarify my thoughts. I own a pretty expensive sports car through events which I would have preferred had not happened. I love my mog. The past 12 months of ownership have been more enjoyable and fun than I ever thought could be possible- it’s been an absolute hoot, every ruddy second behind that beautiful Motolita wheel. I feel v lucky to have such a “toy”. However, I have loved Morgan’s for many years based on how they look and the traditions and general Britishness behind MMC that give me a certain pride. Also a certain type seems to share these feelings (based in part on the people here on TM) and I feel privileged to share your emotions. However, I didn’t want a Morgan for fettling myself (due to a lack of skill) nor for driving in fear of ending up on two wheels, with two left in a hole, on the local roads (coz they really are crap here in this area (I’ve had to go back twice in last two weeks to the tyre place at £100 a time to get my wheels balanced and realigned due to persistent pothole ingress)) because the suspension cannot deal with anything greater than a blade of grass. If the new Plus 4 has an auto box and semi modern suspension I admit it is aimed at myself and Lady HB. If it costs between £55k-£65k some of that cost may be covered by the sale of Florence if I’m lucky, but, regardless of this and despite the EV talk, if I get 10-20 years or so driving a more comfortable Mog (with ability to occasionally share the driving with Lady HB), I will be a happy man plus, between you and I, Lady HB may be more willing to go on longer holidays in the car which is a big deal for me. I really can’t wait for what might be on the horizon! Just my penny worth.... HB

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
