2002 car with single Aston filler. Only had a blowback once, possibly because of pushing the nozzle in too tightly and blocking off venting. The pipe goes into the tank directly below the filler with a slight offset so no long pipe with bends. I tend to slowdown the flow towards the end if filling the tank full.

If you have one of those spring loaded metal flaps inside the neck, then the hinge position makes a difference. It rotates with finger pressure. I can't remember if I have the hinge at 12o'clock or 6o'clock, but one position works really well.

As with Ken, I've never had any problem with my 2003 +8 Anniversary Model - except remembering which of the many keys fits..

When I picked up my first Morgan, I was always recommended to fill at 11 or 1 oclock
It took me years until I realized by chance that I could also successfully refuel in the evening hours.

This is a topic that comes up fairly regularly. I seem to remember there was some discussion at one stage about an inner section that was free to rotate and was better positioned in a particular way.

For some reason I don't normally have any problem with mine.

How long does it take you, to fill up your Morgan?

Ivo,

2013 Plus 8... With the Monza style cap and the insert with a flap, and which is free to rotate.
I've come to the conclusion that ease of filling depends on multiple factors.
1. The pump delivery speed: some pumps are det at a higher Liter/min rate than others.
2. The brand of petrol: some brands seem to foam more than others.
3. The position of the flap, the hinge point must be at the top.
4. The sensitivity of the trigger. At a petrol station that I used to use regularly they had new pumps and it went from an easy fill to almost impossible.

And,,,.Possibly the phase of the moon?

Sometimes I get to fill a tank with no false stops, other pumps cut out every few seconds unless I let the fuel trickle in at a slow rate. On one occasion I had a voice from the intercom ask me if there was a problem because it was taking so long.

There is a fix for the 4.8 plus 8. Mine was virtually impossible to fill in less than around 10-15 minutes, now perfect.
It was done FOC as it’s possibly a safety issue. Two hours work so not widely publicised .
