Fit male waterproof connector
I am in the process of fitting a temporary high level brake light. I am nearly there and just have to fit a male waterproof connector to the cable. This is in another thread which I will update once I have finished!
I am a complete novice at this sort of thing but I am willing to have a go. I should just about manage to solder the wire to the two prongs of the male terminal after crimping.
It is making up the connector that troubles me. I have to say it is one F.F. That of course would be a “fiddly fellow”
I have a photo that I found of the female & male waterproof connectors, link below. (I just need to make up the male one).
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/laurence.rudolf/Connector%20M&F.jpgI have stripped back the new cable to go into the male connector. On to the cable I slip the small green wire seal. The photo appears to show that the last two ends of male terminal are crimped to the green wire seal. Is this correct? Or is nothing crimped to the green wire seal?
Then am I correct in thinking the yellow cover is clicked into place inside the black male connector before any wire is fed into the connector. Once the yellow cover is in place the wire is fed in through the rear of the connector. The male terminal is then pulled through the slots in the yellow cover using needle nose pliers and that completes the connector.
This all may seem very obvious to somebody who has done this before but for a novice like me I have to admit it is a bit fiddly. Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Lol
