Being bored in lockdown I ordered an MMC start button for the Roadster. I have always wanted a car with a start button. Sad I know .

As the 3.7l cars have a jumper lead on the plug behind the dash it should simply be :-
1. Remove the under dash panel by undoing the screws.
2. Remove the plug on the dash
3. Remove the jumper plug and fit the switch
4. Reconnect

What could go wrong after all it is a Morgan.
Alas BHM had the wrong switches from MMC despite the right part number and as you can see the plugs are very different.

Sarah at BHM was very helpful and a few days later the right switch arrived was fitted & works.
One word of caution the back of the switch can go on 2 ways.

PCB facing up means the flashing green light on the switch before you start doesn't work. Naturally you will have noticed this feature before you put it all back together. If you do that wrong & refit the under dash panel you need to take it apart & get it right. Don't ask how I know.

I also discovered the map light wiring which is free & is always powered up. I might later fit a USB socket if I can be prepared to unscrew the under dash panel again.

Green for start . The flashing light on the switch. I also managed to fit an MMC badge into one of the remaining switch blanking plates.

Does the switch pull apart for fitting into dash hole and then click into place?

BTW for 2 x USB power I have a compact cigar lighter adaptor.

It splits in 3. The square bit below the pcb is held on by a plastic screw to the main body of the switch. Then there is a round threaded nut that unscrews to go behind the dash.
I also have the compact USB adaptor.

Back in the 60's the first thing we would do with our Minis was remove the floor start button and convert to the latest novelty, key start!

My S11a Land Rover had a "start" button

My sisters mini had a start button & my first boss's 1970s Granada hada floor mounted screen wash button.
As I said I am reverting to my childhood.
