Driving up the Grimselpass this week my wife suddenly lost all traction in her M3W. Shifting gears was possible. The revs went up normal But the car wouldn’t go forward. She stopped and we changed cars. To my surprise I could get the car moving like normal. Very strange. We couldn’t get a clue what happened. All looked normal again and we could drive home 100 kilometers without any problems. Today we went out for a short ride. After 30 kilometers suddenly the same happened again. We stopped. I went in her car and drove away like normal. But this time there was a noise from the back of the car. Suddenly same happened as above and lost all traction. Looking under the back I found out what was wrong. The Supermax sprocket gave up his duty. So need to get a new one. Yup. Well, I'm not terribly surprised after my own fiasco with the rear sprocket. Don't bother with a SuperMax sprocket. Just get the newer steel stock sprocket and be done with it.
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

A similar thing happened with a Supermax sprocket at G&G in the Lakes a few weeks ago (photo below). The poly overlay disbonded and the grub screws sheared off or worked lose, not sure which happened first. The owner stopped and investigated this at the first occurrence and found the problem before any damage was done to the poly overlay. The car was recovered and the rear wheel removed. The overlay was then bonded back on with epoxy adhesive and new grub screws fitted. All refitted and the M3W returned to action the following day. Other Supermax sprockets have had the grub screws work lose, they need to be secured with Loctite. Bunny mentioned this was an issue with Supermax sprockets in April 2019. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/09/04/P1030537.jpg)

You would have to ask Dab of Oppo about that as it is his car. Something to do with his fabricated rear mudguard I think, there are several variations.

The Supermax sprocket gave up his duty. So need to get a new one. I believe that M3W Services have brand new Supermax sprockets in stock if you need to get hold of one quickly.
