Well that is the SE5a the very same model and mark that we had but the first Scimitar GTE that I have seen with wire wheels.

Nice looking meal too thumbs

These were the wheels I had on mine, steel with a fibre glass trim to look like an alloy, our car was Wessex green with three fine gold pinstripes down the flanks.

thank you for the Reliant/ scimitar link.

Here (perhaps) the same car we have seen in the exibition with other wheels.

About the meal we had:
Syrian food doesn't always look very appealing by European standards, but the variety of spices and preparation methods are actually very tasty.

I'm glad the article was of interest to you.

That is a lovely colour they have there, a change of wheels and a flag on the roof it looks like an interesting exhibition .

I've not found a place that serves Syrian food down here but it will come I'm sure.

Mine was red with a black vinyl roof on Wolfrace alloys ..... really enjoyed that car and Mrs image still remembers it fondly to this day (it being the driving experience that finally converted her from being an exclusively 2 wheeled girl) .... it was before digital cameras and I've always been a reluctant photographer so I don't have a single pic of it.

On the subject of the big Reliants, as I've said before, my favourite was the SE4 Coupe .... a really classic shape and, up until recently, stupidly cheap

I always liked the Scimitar though in the estate version, the idea of a non-corroding machine to one who at the time was up to my neck in repairing my rust ravaged old sports cars it had a degree of appeal, though Lotus were just that bit more race car like and thus the Scimitar thinking faded in time..

My first Porsche, a 69 912 came with overly wide rear arches and Wolfrace alloys, a sign of the times perhaps. Nice pic of the reliant, looks to be sitting outside an old aircraft hangar.... Yeah back in the day there was just too much cost and palaver to be taking pics of our toys using film cameras, I don`t even have one pic of my very first car a well rotted old 59 Frogeye Sprite, which took a year of my life to nail back together, before it was written off after less time than it took to rebuild it, and by another young clown...! But then that`s just another story..

Yes they are smooth, we needed the space afforded by the GTE as we had a young child - it was quite an interesting project fitting the child's car seat.

Interestingly Mrs Rich liked driving it too unlike the Plus 8's, mind she would have swapped it back for the Ami 8 in a heartbeat I had to wrestle the wheel off her she was so into driving and using the inertia it was fun to passenger, not that I told her that wink

Like you I don't think about taking photographs too much so very few of any of our cars.
I can remember all of our cars Registration numbers straight off the top of my head so something is still working up there - sad isn't it - the GTE was YVG 612L in Wessex green.

Indeed ... the GTE (presumably 'Grand Touring Estate') ... did just what it said on the tin ... we moved house in ours (70 mph down the M62 with a large cheese-plant flapping out of the rear tailgate ... the plant even survived the ordeal🙂) .... and, although it didn't have the pedigree name, it was indeed a Grand Tourer ... roomy and comfortable and loped away the miles behind the lazy V6 in overdrive top.

Sadly, as they fell down the food chain they tended to get tatty and poorly maintained which resulted in them hitting rock-bottom prices which tarnished the reputation of what was in fact a really good car.

There's a few GTEs and Coupes that race on the hillclimbs still .... they do well and, being properly looked after, are a credit to the marque

K

Here we go ... a Coupe at Shelsley and a GTE at Prescott I think

Excellent, thanks for sharing the images too.
I have seen a couple for sale that are very modified but not witnessed one in anger.

For a practical classic car with a bit of style the GTE''s have always seemed to be greatly undervalued to me. I've never even sat in one but it's interesting to hear that they were as good as I imagined they would be.

I'm also a fan of the coupes, but decent ones seem to fetch a more realistic price.

we also drive about 120km to Bremen to this Syrian restaurant.

We discovered this Syrian restaurant in September by chance when we were looking for a parking space in Bremen to go into the centre:
Some distance away I saw an Aero drive into a long warehouse right at the old River Weser harbour.

On the way back, we "accidentally" walked along the river Weser and took a look at this former warehouse.
Inside are various dealers for vintage cars, vintage car workshops, vintage car rental and 2 pubs.

There are about 30-40 classic cars between the workshops.
Entrance ist free.

One of the two restaurants is a Syrian restaurant.

Since Covid19, I don't think it's appropriate for me to be in restaurants filled with people or other enclosed spaces without mouth and nose protection because of health problems.

This Syrian restaurant had many tables outside with a view of the old overseas harbour: so why not try Syrian food?

You could also say: It doesn't matter whether it's German, Chinese or Syrian - the main thing is to go out for a light-hearted meal again.

That's how we got to know Syrian food.

Last week we visited the so-called "Christmas Market" in Bremen.

And of course parked near this warehouse.

This restaurant also has tables in a kind of open bedouin tents in the large hall with all the classic cars.

In september we enjoyed the food very much and the staff and the owner were very friendly in a very natural and discreet way.

These tables were unoccupied: Why not eat comfortably with a view of beautiful cars?
