That's interesting as it (yet again) acknowledges a known problem by the factory. In which case, it ought to be properly sorted out via a recall or attended to at the next service.

Thanks Cooperman. Cap not securing after fill up. Remembered this thread and bought some WD Silicone Lubricant. Wow, a couple of sprays, rotated several times, retried and working better than when first bought. A simple fix. Cheers Ian

I was in touch with Newton Equipment who manufacture the PlusFour CX fuel caps. They simply suggest loosening (or tightening) the nut on the back of the filler cap a quarter-turn - if it tends to jam (or is too loose). The nut is visible in the attached photo. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.ibb.co/PNKXm79/IMG-7235.jpg)

My turn to encounter this problem. Did the Williams track day at Castle Combe and got the fuel light part way through the afternoon. Drove to local petrol station. Spent the next 10 mins failing to open the filler cap so gave up and headed home early luckily with enough fuel to make it home. Spent another 15 mins fiddling with it this morning in the garage and finally managed to get it open. I could get the top to turn but the lower plastic part was not aligning properly so keeps catching. Have greased it but still catching. Will try tightening the nut slightly to see if that keeps alignment better. Ps. I noticed the image above shows the cap without the retaining cable. Have others removed the cable? It seems to be more of a hindrance to the locking mechanism than a help in keeping the cap attached when open for fuelling.

Simply "shake" the lid when opening ... this always helps me to open the tank lid David

Yes, my retaining cable had actually sheared off before I took the photo above. As you say, I think the cable is a bit of a hinderance anyway.
Since adjusting the nut (per the above post) - I’ve had no problems with the locking version of the cap.

It seems to be more of a hindrance to the locking mechanism than a help in keeping the cap attached when open for fuelling. I had this problem when heading to Denmark with an empty fuel tank. The dutch AA homeservice came to open it, instructed by the dealer. After one tankstop before Hamburg we had again problems, MorganPark in Hamburg solved the problem (which is very wel known...) by abraising some material from the material inside the filler cap. Now it has more "room" and everything goes fine. Your dealer can deal with it! Good luck! ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2023/08/20/IMG_4143.jpeg)
