Very well said Aerotaff. Its a real shame that some people get a lot of pleasure from these negative vibes and although I’ve had various Morgan’s over the years, this is the main reason I very rarely post on here. As for me I love all Morgan’s and long live MMC.
Very sorry for this rant, but it had to be said, Nick

This loyal customer stuff keeps resurfacing from people who never take their cars back to the factory for servicing or have any intention of changing their cars. Morgan can only survive with new car sales the outgoing roadster fully loaded was nearly 70K there are quite a few gdi still out there at 50K. And ask any dealer out there Trads have changed hands much more in the last 10yrs. I feel very fortunate to own one of the newer car's and after having four this without shadow of doubt is the best and will be used the most. Nearly every roadtest done over the last three years the testers have heaped praise on the cars are they all wrong I think not. Let's just enjoy whatever Morgan you drive still hand built with a wooden tub ....Em

I believe that it is not always a matter of negative "viebes".

One should also consider the current dimensions of the price increases of the "CX series" compared to the original "Trads".

With the current prices - at least here in Germany - it is important to remember that for the majority of Morgan drivers the Morgan is a hobby vehicle.

And above a certain new price, the circle of customers who are willing or able to spend this amount for "a few days of fun a year" becomes smaller and smaller.

At this point, repair costs and build quality are important.

And this is where small-series manufacturers like MORGAN have a general problem! (Technical / quality problems, necessary improvements of chassis, automatic tuning etc. already in the 2nd model year -see PlusFour- and the high costs for warranty work).

Those who speak to dealers do not have the feeling that these are only occasional problems or that Morgan is correspondingly accommodating towards dealers or customers.

Why worry about build quality automatic tuning whatever that is or prices if you never intend getting one,I think Morgan are doing their very best for a small hand built company. If you buy a Morgan and use it few times a year seems a bit of a waste but we all have choices and there are a lot of cars for sale at different budgets. To put things in some context I would love to spec a new plus 6 but as mentioned feel very fortunate to own a three year old model with a 40k saving over new. ..Em

I agree. I've been a Morgan owner since the late 70's and have enjoyed all the 4/4's I've owned. I wanted to try a cx car and was fortunate enough to get a well spec'd Plus Four last month for what I consider a good price. A different car yes but it's still a Morgan!
And I like it!! happy3

I bought in 2021 a plus four for €94,000. It now seems like a good deal. I will sell it in 3 years and it will have 50 or 60,000 km. I may lose a little money but I will have had 50,000 km of happiness. if I had bought a RENAULT or a KIA, I would have lost more money and I would not have had fun. I like to hear people criticize the CX's while I'm having fun with mine. innocent

I have been and still am on the fence in regards to getting a CX and if I were, it would be a PCP. I simply don't have that large of a lump sum of money sitting around to allow for a full out purchase. I did purchase the 4/4 outright but it was half the cost of a CX.

Many might say that if I can't afford it, then why get it. The way I see it, a PCP takes a bit of the risk out of it as you know what the value is projected at. Anything more and one could see it as a win.

In regards to the never ending discussion of CX vs. Trad and all that goes with it, MMC had to change with the times and offer something that will see them through, hopefully. I recall reading many a posts pre-CX about how MMC did this or that wrong but as Aerostaff mentioned, it was mostly from those who wouldn't be buying a new Morgan regardless. Some might recall a thread I posted a few years back where I asked why there was so much 'hate' on the CX from a group who truly loves the brand. Needless to say I got a ton of flack and for a while left TM.

The CX might have been a gamble for MMC but they couldn't afford to have stood still and kept turning out the Trad due to the many reasons discussed in other threads.

They have a decent PCP offer on at the moment, lots of free colour/trim choices and extra warranty for those who take on finance. Let's hope this helps spur on some new orders that otherwise wouldn't have happened.

That's my rant smile

I’ve posted this before, mine is on a PCP, circa £650 per month, 10,000 miles per year, guaranteed future value £48k. Mine was second hand from factory and very high spec. 18 months left, and I estimate it will have 40 to 45,000 miles on when ballon payment due, which I won’t be paying, as I will change it for another plus 6.
I don’t want 85k of my cash in a car, as I never intended to keep it for ever from day one.

There is a lot of negatives on here about Morgan. Lots of Trad owners buy and keep forever, which is great if that floats your boat. I would imagine, dare I say, these owners are of a certain maturity, and it’s the older generation who would still buy a trad. When I had a trad that I kept for a short period of time because I loathed it, I asked my teenage kids, who are all driving what you would do with it if I dropped dead tomorrow. They, and my wife said get rid of it ASAP. They hated it. The plus 6 is a different machine, they like it and my wife drives it.

Morgan in Malvern, service, MOT and look after my car. I’m defo a young owner. Going to the meets on a Saturday at Malvern makes my wife and I feel like teenagers. We almost feel out of place.,Morgan need us younger buyers, who wear jeans, trainers and wrap round raybands, don’t own a pair of slacks, and carry wicker picnic sets with a tin tartan flask.
That last bit was tongue in cheek!! I I think 🤔

Somehow what MMC has done with the CX reminds me of this story https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-66299138

I’ve yet to drive a CX but having poked around and fiddled with a few, everything I’ve seen is as least as nice and in most cases better than my trad. I won’t need to drive it to know it will drive nicer, it can hardly be worse!
My 4/4 is exactly the car I wanted it to be so for the meantime, I’ve no desire to change it. It’s true that I’d be losing out on some of the charm of the trad should I change but there are many attributes of the CX to compensate if that day ever comes.
Price wise, I don’t think they’re too bad all things considered and depreciation is still slower than most other cars in the same price bracket.
