Gentlemen,

Mulberry Fabrication can now supply an alloy header tank to replace the ‘plastic jobby’ that is OEM.

It does require fitting - 8 & 6mm drills, centre punch & 13mm & 8mm spanner & socket.

It is fitted to the centre bracket on the Mulberry tie rod (comes with Mulberry radiator) and a new bracket drivers side front catch mounting. Both brackets on M8 rubber mounts - looks better than the Ford coolant tank and securely mounted.

I would post a picture but beyond my IT skills

Here we go that does look smart. I like the way it doesn't rub on the engine What do they cost?

Sorry to say but a big negative for me would be not easily seeing coolant level.

True Richard, but opening the cap when cold is not a lot of effort

Perhaps a dipstick helps like used on the fuel tank on the "Trabbi"?

The CX cars have ali tanks with no clear level check “windows” or pipes. Not a problem. When cold (really the only time to check) I just look down inside. Dark? Use a torch. I find my middle finger acts as a dipstick. The tip matches the level sticker on the outside. I also have cardboard on the floor under the car to show any leaks ( oil or coolant). At the moment I am doing VERY regular checks due to the early cars’ coolant/rad leak issues. No losses so far after 4.5k miles.
The oil level check is “different” with no dipstick ! Hot engine and running then press a button. The result shows up on the small screen. Colour of the display indicates level and how much to add. Currently green meaning full. Been standard on BMW for several years. Tech eh!

I totally agree that there are relatively easy ways of checking coolant level but absolutely nothing beats being able to see level the instant you lift one or other bonnet, whether intending to check or not.
