Obviously it's a bit of a postcode vs neighbours claims lottery, but just about to renew at under £200 for £1m buildings & £75k contents, so £500 sounds steep (unless you're situated on a receding coastal cliff)

Thanks Jon, I'll review this next December when it's due again as I've just paid it santahohoho as we are 500' amsl and 1/4 mile from the cliffs and a very low rated crime area with no claims ever from us thankfully.

Ours just came in with a £6 increase to £203.
On checking the details they had increased the cover in a couple of areas that would be inflation affected. The sums insured are covering big costs ( rebuild etc) with room to spare.
The policy has good cover for both buildings and contents plus emergency call out cover. DirectLine.
As usual at renewal I looked at other options but stuck with them as differences were very small.
Re the emergency cover, we had them out once for a very small pinhole leak in a water pipe under the sink. Plumber there within a couple of hours. Job done. No damage and a quick clean up was all that was needed. Still a mystery how the pinhole occurred. My guess is a defect in the copper pipe that, after years, gave way.

Don't know how old your copper pipe is but about 20 years ago there was a lot of defective copper pipe installed.

Have a look at Auto Aid, full cover for just over £60. Not had to use them yet, but always recommended by Martin Lewis (Money Saving Expert)

I hop from AA to RAC and back again. The intro offers are the deal.

I ditched the RAC this year when the premium went up from £183 to £233 for personal cover. I have now got our shared tintop (Mazda2) covered for £51 with Start Rescue. I haven't had to call them out yet so I can't comment on their service but they are a Which? recommended provider.

Since I switched my classics' insurance to RH a few years ago breakdown cover has been included as standard. The Morgan failed to start earlier this year and a local garage arrived with a recovery vehicle within 15 minutes so I was very impressed.

Been mentioned before, but I pay about £14 pm to Nationwide BS which includes AA breakdown + global holiday insurance + other benefits (not used) such as mobile phone insurance.

Used AA in March when I got bogged down in the motorhome in a muddy field - AA van managed to tow me to firmer ground.

Can anybody offer me any advice or help on car insurance. I have a 2020 plus4 traditional build and my car insurance was £100 and now it’s £250. My opinion is that the insurance company is classing my traditional build as a new model since they are asking for information about security which they never asked for before.
Thanks

Ian
